Origins Yoga

Welcome to Origins Yoga: a welcoming community for sincere, heart-centered movement that is playful when it needs to be and calm when it matters most.

I'm Matt Poles. My yoga journey began in 2019. While recovering from a car accident and surgery, I started practicing yoga at home with Adriene on YouTube. I slowly got my body back while also beginning to feel like myself for the very first time.

That deep sense of reconnection led me to teaching. I completed a 30-hour Yin Yoga training in 2023, a 200-hour teacher training in 2024, and now teach Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, and gentle flows, always meeting students exactly where they are.

Origins Yoga is my story — and an invitation to discover your own.

Yoga is about remembering where we come from, peeling back the layers, and returning to our genuine selves.

At the heart of Origins Yoga is a simple but powerful idea: the mat is a mirror. The way we breathe, move, and meet challenge on the mat reflects how we show up in our lives off the mat. Through practice, we learn to notice our reactions, listen to the feedback of our breath, and replace automatic reaction with conscience response. In this way, we become our own greatest teachers.

Origins' classes blend mindful movement with spiritual depth. They are sincere, but never too serious. Through practice, we learn to notice our reactions and choose how we respond. It’s okay to fall out of poses and laugh about it. No judgment, just awareness.

My hope is that you leave each practice a little more connected to yourself — with greater patience of mind, wisdom of words, and love in your heart.

"We don't use the body to get into the poses; we use the poses to get into the body." -Bernie Clark
